Poker Flat Recordings proudly presents Da minimal Funk 3! Minimal Funk? What is Minimal Funk? What is the meaning of Minimalism in 2003? And how comes there is a connection to Funk? Listening to Da Minimal Funk Vol. 3 one will find more than one answer to all those questions. It was way back in 1996 when Germany's minimal master Steve Bug, now responsible for labels like Poker Flat Recordings, Dessous Recordings and B-Series, established the first issue of Da Minimal Funk Compilation on his former imprint Raw Elements where it was an outstanding and groundbreaking release for the growing minimal Techno & House movement. Nowadays, as the minimalism is an established genre within the neverending 4/4, it is time for the next sequel, time to create another funky minimalist statement. Selecting a fine blend of tracks from some of the best producers all over the world, written by the likes of Jeff Samuel, Chris Lum, Freestyle Man, Sergej Auto as well as Steve Bug himself alongside Dessous / Poker Flat artists as Frankman or The Jackals, he presents very energetic, dancefloor orientated tunes, most of them stripped down to the bone and refering to the funky jacking groove of early Chicago days, a period that influenced Steve Bug from the beginning of his DJ- and production-career. According to the tradition of the first volumes of Da minimal Funk on Raw Elements also the first Poker Flat issue comes as 2CD format, CD1 as full on DJ-Mix, defining Steve Bug's great abilities as along-time Club-DJ with perfect mixes, cuts and blends, covering the whole spectrum of Minimal Funk from relaxed grooves to jacking and tweeking primetime trax. CD2 is dedicated to those being into calming broken and downtempo tunes with an organic feel, presenting carefully selected tracks by worldwide acknowledged artist like Jimpster, Ursula Rucker and Antonelli Electr. in a fine track by track way.
